Now here is a very nice, handmade schooner built during the 1960's era of model building. We were contacted by a very nice lady whose husband recently passed away. She explained to me that he had purchased this great nautical antique from a model builder who lived in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland, back in the 1960's. I was happy to purchase it from her.
This great schooner has-been under restoration for the last 2 months. We cleaned the original sails and repainted it the original colors of hunter green and red with a white watermark (very attractive color combination). The step deck is very unique and looks original to the boat. We did have to add all new rigging and our parts supplier, Appreciating Antiques of San Pablo, Ca. had to handmake some of the original replacement parts for me. Thanks Burt! The boat stand is original, and we did restrain it in chestnut.
There are original brass and copper accent pieces throughout the boat. The deck is made of solid mahogany with a matching stain...very rich looking!
This schooner measures: 28"L x 5.5"W x 36"H. (in its stand).
What a great addition to any room in the home or office. This great historic antique will continue to appreciate in value in the coming, great years ahead!
Thank you...
