Vintage, Pond Boat, Sailboat, Handmade c.a. 1960's Era Fully Restored

$2,895.00

Wonderful, vintage, handmade. plank on frame pond boat that was recently restored to its previous glory of the 1960's ! This yacht measures: 41"L x 9"W x 58"H. ( In its stand).

This antique, one-of-a-kind yacht was recently acquired from a longtime collector in Annapolis, Maryland. This gentleman has an extensive collection, and I am working to acquire more boats from his collection...so stay tuned!

We did a total restoration after doing some homework on its history and journey for the last 63 years or so...

The previous owner purchased it from a gentleman that build model boats as a hobby back in the 60's. The boat has been repainted smokey white (3 coats with a marine grade lacquer finish in gloss), which was its original color. I added a new "Braine" self-steering mechanism. (Braine is the name of the inventor of this steering device invented in the 1930's). The original keel was damaged, so I replaced it with a Bilge keel which makes this pond boat look sleek and fast.

All of the components we added are brass and copper. This "free sailing" yacht is ready to sail if you wish, but because of its age, it may be better used as a display model. A great piece of history that will truly be a conversation piece displayed anywhere in your home or office.

This yacht will also appreciate in value in the coming years. (Please refer to "appraisal estimate below").

As mentioned earlier, this boat is of plank and frame construction which is an indication of its age and the fact that it was handmade. Most model yachts that were sailed for pleasure during the 1920's and 30's were handmade plank and frame, or solid construction.

The sails are not original but were cleaned and repaired in our shop. We also added a new stand which includes 2 solid silver nautical coins as accents. We also felted the stand base with a high-quality felting. New rigging was also added throughout the boat.

Thank you!
